Traffic Warden Jobsworths
Discussion
I live in a town centre and we have pretty restricted parking, although generally its excepted that after 5pm and on Sundays is a free-for-all.
Walking back from pub last night at 10.15pm (early I know
) and who should we bump in to but a traffic warden busy ticketing cars.
Now 70% of the time I am likely to be illegally parked at night, but he missed our street and I was legally parked anyway
Anyone seen a worse example?!

yes,my dad pulled up outside 'rocky's' on the a4 in cranford (before the red route was put in) at 1803 (this was the time given on the radio just before we pulled up) and as we walked over to rocky's we saw a couple of traffic wardens walk over and start issuing a ticket.my dad was rather peeved at this and he walked over and pointed to the sign saying parking only permitted outside 0800-1800 and the cheaky
said that according to his watch it wasnt 1800 so he was issuing the ticket anyway so my dad took the ticket and ripped it up infront of the nobjockey and said they could suck him off for the money.......they didnt take him up on the offer and he has also heard no more about it.

You could buy a ticket that took you to midnight, but needed another one to carry over to the morning (cos you caught a cab home, sensible chap)
Haven't been there for a year or three - are they still around? Gits.
Got ticketed at 2055hrs on a Sat night in Brighton back in January - was flying out to Oz the next morning so couldn't even rant.

Are they trained to do that....?
Can't possibly be. You can't train a monkey to do that, and a traffic warden has an even lower IQ than a monkey.
I have an IQ of 168, and VOLUNTEER to warden the appalling parking in my local town, so less of the insults please, its not big and its not clever. (Or I would do it to.)
You might all like to know that the Govt is going to modify the Traffic Management Bill in order to give councils statutory advice on the civil enforecment of traffic offences.
"Voluntary guidelines have failed to curb excessive action by over-zealous traffic wardens. Putting the guidelines on a statutory basis will allow the adjudicators a certain amount of discretion when hearing appeals. Motorists have been fined for veering into bus lanes to avoid an accident or allow passage to an emergency vehicle or for parking in a space where the ticket machine was broken. Councils who previously encouraged their traffic wardens to be unforgiving will now have to observe the enforcement guidelines."
Being picky I note the unwelcome emphasis on freeing up adjudicators when hearing appeals rather than making the councils and their employess operate in a professional manner.

To be fair, there is a need for some enforcement of parking regs during the evening/night in places such as Brighton. You've only got to see some of the total numpty parking to appreciate that. Combine cars abandoned on zig-zags, junctions etc... with hundreds of pissed people, add in a few pissed drivers and the usual collection of Lax-Power types driving like tw@ts and you have all the ingredients of a fatal accident.
Don't get me wrong, each of the afore mentioned need addressing but badly parked cars do cause problems. Why do you think there are 24 hour Red Routes in London?

So you must be a monkey then.
