OR is that just some Scottish/Yorkshire tight arse method my family use to feel like they are getting a better deal?

Will i lose by taxing now or should i wait till the start of next month?

Surely i will win by taxing now and not then, as 12 months would cover me from 1/12/10 to 30/11/11?

If you prefer to tax in the last few days of the month, there is now an exemption from the offence of not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month and allows time for the new disc to arrive in the post.
Why would someone "prefer" to do this?

Why pay for it before you have to? You still have to tax it for the same period.

Sometimes it's better to tax your car before the end of the month; for instance, if there's a budget towards the end of the month it expires.

You can tax a car up to two weeks before your current disc expires, and still get the full 12 months.

So no, you don't have to wait till the 30th, if that's what you're asking.
