I notice on DX whenever you buy batteries or torches whatever, there are usually a few brands that end with -fire.

eg there are P7 SSC torches (for my bike and just shining around) made by spiderfire, trustfire ultrafire uniquefire sacredfire etc all with the same P7 SSC emitters but slightly different cases. Are they just different brands that all happen to sound the same?

The same thing happens when you look for lithium batteries for them.

Will my torch break after one hour and these batteries just explode causing me possible injury and general domestic trouble or is their stuff OK?

Only had it for a couple of days and charged it twice - so far no explosion! The light unit is VERY robust and the light is VERY bright, in fact it is easily as bright as a £300+ set of lights. Can't comment on what its performance will be like in 6 months time but for £50 delivered I am mucho happy.....

Probably all from the same factory. They all have a similar name because they are ripping off Surefire without ripping off Surefire.

My lights took nearly 4 weeks to arrive, but I was saving over £25 on UK sourced versions (who would have only bought them for the same price I did anyway) and several hundred over the Hope or other branded items, so happy to wait.

Mine took 3 weeks but apparently became stuck in HK customs. Drop DX an eMail, once released from customs it took 3 days!

Brilliant light, really bright and very wide beam - only complaint is when it goes out it just goes out! Planning on an early evening night ride at Swinle Forest this evening - will let you know how it performs.

I bought one of the bike lights last year, although it had an American charger and only 3 modes, but to answer your question, after 6 months, and even a year it's still working fine, still get 3.5 hours out of a quoted 3 hour battery.

More than happy with mine too - got the 3 mode one as above about 16 months ago. Used every day for commuting, plus 1 or 2 night rides a week. Only had an issue once (2 weeks ago) when it really chucked it down and water got in the battery. Put it on a radiator and it was working by lunch and has been fine since, though I'll put the battery in a plastic bag next time it absolutely chucks it down.

Am currently awaiting a headtorch from dx that I ordered 4 or 5 weeks ago.

I've had a DX light for a little over a year and no problems apart from the switch being a little flakey recently - resolved with some WD40 and a little deft tapping against the handlebars. It is a servicable item however and a Google search will yield instructions on how to take apart and fix if it goes properly.

Can't beat it for value - may treat myself to a second one as a spare.

Got a SSC P7 torch with 18650 batteries which is simply brilliant.

Bought a charger that made a loud bang and started smoking!
