Have been given a Mondeo Titanium X as a hire car while my car is being ordered, great car for what it is, bit low geared in 1st and 2nd but this may help the emissions.

Only real gripe I have is the tinted rear and back windows, they are a bloody nightmare, nearly ran over an old dear while reversing out of the local Morrison car park, an when you look back over your right should when overtaking on a motorway, you cannot see anything behind you.

They are in 2 words; Bloody dangerous. Great if your a pimp in the red light area of Sheffield, but otherwise, please leave them clear!!!!!

What do you guys think?

Answers on a postcard please?

Just to be contentious, I think they are great - stop the kids moaning about the sun in the summer....
but I know what you mean about seeing out of the back on gloomy days or in the dark - but you get used to it after a while and use your side mirrors more

I don't - perhaps Ford use a poor quality film?
Can't see an issue with this for example: (not my car BTW)

Inside

Outside

You cant see out of the rear side windows on my discovery, as is a commercial and they look black on the outside but you cant see through them.

Its only really a pain turning right at narrow junctions. other than that you just learn to use the mirrors properly and do lots of observation when your reversing.

Indeed.

I really don't see how it is a problem for some.

I have a Titanium Focus with the privacy glass and have had cars with aftermarket tints in the past and never had an issue with visibility.

The only car with tints that ever caused me a problem reversing in the dark was my brother's old car which had ridiculous limo-tints. Now they were dangerous!

Film? It a tint in the glass. rolleyes

My Lancer had privacy glass in the back, I didn't like it either. Privacy glass, huge spoiler and rear headrests in a car with a high saloon bootline made reversing a door mirror only operation.

Not on every vehicle/manufacturer, and I don't know the specifics of the Mondeo, hence the word 'perhaps'.

Yep, can't say for Ford but my X5 uses film on the glass as the previous owner damaged it.

My MB had them fitted from the factory when I bought it, great for keeping the dog a bit cooler in the hot Scottish sun, but a design flaw in that I have an auto dimming rear view mirror, and the tints block out just enough light from cars behind at night that the auto-dim function doesn't operate properly, but not enough to stop me being slightly dazzled, nightmare!
