'Safety' cameras? Lying B@$TARDS!!
Discussion
:major rant alert!:
I have had it with these government cash cows. Their pursuit of 'saftey' has now lost my sister her driving license. She's been caught speeding twice. Just twice. But because she hasn't been driving for two years yet, she's losing her license.
So lets see....she hasn't killed any one. She hasn't injured anyone. In fact she's never had an accident at all. But she's been caught speeding twice. Ohhhhh she must be sooooo dangerous!
All she's done is gone past a couple of Nazis with cameras at 5 or so mph over the limit.
It isn't about safety. Never was. All they want is too fleece you for money.

Dont tell me about it, ive been advocating direct action against these scum for ages.
Sorry about her lost licence tho.
'Scum' is putting it mildly.
She now has to retake her test, both theory and practical, and her insurance is gonna rocket. And what harm has she caused? NONE! Absolutely f***ing none at all!

has she taken the points yet, if not get someone else to, try students & speeding points on google or ebay
Too late!
The stupid thing is they gave her the license back after they put the points on, then sent her a letter to say her license was being revoked! Pointless waste of time!
I'm currently on 3, and have 8 months to run untill i'm out of my "probationary" period. The mad thing is out of my friends i'm one of the only ones that hasn't written a car off, or injured someone. I can understand that they're trying to get the accidents among young people down, but I'm sure it's to do with inexperience - not with speed.
Can I ask - do you know how long you have to wait before you can take your test again if you lose your license as your sister has. Might be of some interest as i don't seem to learn from being caught speeding either, well, it's just too much fun isn't it? It would be like giving in if I kept to the limits....
Cheers!
Rob.

And get drivers off the road who can't control their speed.
It was your sister that lost her licence, it wasn't lost for her!
Perhaps she'll be more careful next time eh?

Rob.
You have just been lucky. If you are in your probationary period you are inexperienced so you are likely to have an accident and even more likely if you use excess speed. Simple facts really.
Can't you make all the points in one post!!!
They're lying because they're not for safety, they're for revenue raising. She might have hurt herself because of inexperience or ineptitude, but because we rely on scameras we only ban those who drive quickly, not those that drive badly.
[EDIT] I've edited this post to add the following save turning this into a million post thread all containg a single point for a single user

Well, didn't you totally miss the point? I was saying how I know some very bad drivers who have had accidents, one which was head on and involved casualties who have recieved no penalty points, yet I have when I havn't been involved in any accidents. Also, since when was breaking the speed limit excess speed? 80/90mph is perfectly safe on an empty motorway yet woulg gain penalty points.
And finally, these are not simple facts. Some insurance companies are now ignoring penalty points as they have no affect on the likelyhood of someone having an accident, enough said really.

No they have not - they said they would improve safety on the roads and prove it by increasing the death rate on the roads (their figures), so they are lying.

Rob.
Perhaps her inexperience and ineptitude has manifested itself in the speeding behaviour.

But Government figures say that in all likelyhood she would not, so why persecute her for it?

What figures are they then? I can't recal making any sort of conclusion from figures I have seen that would suggest this. 6 points and you're out seems fair to me for the new starters.

So you suggest that road safety is about luck? I do hope I don't meet you on the road as I firmly believe that road safety is about good observation, good vehicle control, good spacial awareness and consideration for other road users - good luck to you.
