...and, if uesd, Lotus will no doubt continue to use and refine the V8 long after BMW stops producing and supporting them. :-)

Posted a note on an earlier thread this afternoon - but surprised no comments yet. Where are you Ernest and you US fanatics? No thoughts on the use of a BMW engine?

Sweet, sounds like a good plan to me. I have no problems with a bmw engine and Lotus tuning for even more horsepower. Sure another Lotus designed and built engine is great to but worse case scenario the bmw engine tuned and with forced induction from Lotus will work to! By the time the new car comes out hopefully I will have my hands on a 2003 Esprit which i want very much, its a classic!

If a BMW engine was good enough for McLaren in the F1, it's good enough for me in a new Esprit.

Lets face it, its one of the worlds best power plants, which sounds like its going to be made even more awesome......Could this make it an supercar that can be used EVERY day in the 996 TT sense?

AWESOME... bring it on!

just to add something::::

i was at the factory the other day with my GT3 and was in the offices all day, i asked a few questions and looked on the wall etc etc etc, there comment to my questions were "do you actually think that the new car will look like that becuse i dont, why bring out a design 3 years in advance, looks cool now, but in 3 years time it wont" and as for the engine even they dont have a clue what its using

he said autocar went for a vist and made there own conclusions and the pics/write up etc etc are just a deisinger imagination as present. usual hype, not even ok to go ahead,,,fingers crossed though

My personal thought is to "wait and see" for everything. When the concept shows up in Geneva, I am sure that I will have plenty of time to salivate...

Um, it's _Williams_ who are BMW powered in F1.
Given their current unreliability woes (Raikonnen = 0 for 3 to start 2004), McLaren probably wishes it had BMW in the engine room!

Not F1 racing, but Macca F1 supercar from around 10 years ago. Y'know, three seats, centre steer, 242 mph, £600k etc etc...

Anyone know how heavy the BMW V8 is?
