XO or Almeida?

Or any other recommendation in Northish London for Friday night.

I've got an interview on Friday arvo in Islington (Highbury Corner) and have decided to celebrate getting paid by having dinner with a friend (who also happens to have a jolly comfy spare bed in Crouch End)

Want to stay Northish and these two have good offers on Toptable atm (I didn't get paid that much!)

£50 a head inclusive, not that bothered about style of cuisine just good value and not too pompous.

Any suggestions?

Not eaten in XO but had a meal at Almeida a few weeks back. Fantastic meal, great service and with the toptable deal the value for money was incredible.

apparently they are both too posh! Kentish Canteen has got the nod, will report back.
