I was in love all over again anyway when I left work today thanks to a great valetting. The beast is truly sex on wheels but things just got better...

I was amusing myself in Numpty Central (M25 Jcts 17-20) by encouraging pops and burbles in the stop start traffic when I heard a TOOT! Looking round I saw a chap looking at me from a large liveried van a couple of lanes across, his arm out of the window, his thumb up and his face in full grin .

What was I to do but use up some space by dropping a couple of cogs and encouraging more pops and burbles as I slowed again?

A couple of minutes later your man in the van catches up again in a similar pose (but with the grin a little wider, if that was possible) .

BTW, my insurance company has concluded that I should be granted a new car replacement. The reason for this I was told; they had a similar case to mine a couple of years ago, the insured took them to the ombudsman and won.

I’m pretty sure its gonna be another Tiv, but I’m still torn between the Cerbi and the Tuscan S; this is a hard one.

As for colour, I’m leaning toward either Reflex Purple or Chameleon Blue at the moment. However I would like to see a few examples of the Cascade colours especially with a blue/purple theme.

I spoke to the factory today; they are quoting lead times of mid-July.

I'd say chameleon blue of those two... but only on the Tuscan. I think the Cerb looks much better in a more classic/simple colour - Aston Martin fern green/titanium silver-grey. Then again, if I were speccing a Tuscan from scratch, I'd have it in Desert Moondust after seeing that one for sale at the TVR Centre now.

Although I'm only just getting used to the Tuscan, it's certainly a very different car from the Cerb.

I see from your profile, you previously owned a Cerbi as did I, I had a 4.5 LW, not the RR, Can you tell me something to make this decision easer, like handling, power, head turning etc...

Objective comparison:
Looks: The Tuscan is a Jules-Vernian delight; truly unique, whilst the Cerb has more timeless stately lines. For me the Tuscan wins.

Sound: No comparison - the rumble of the V8 through sports pipes can't be beaten. The CCC cans on the Tuscan make it louder, but the quality of the sound isn't quite there. It does howl beautifully at high RPM, though.

Performance: The Tuscan RR is noticeably faster than the Cerb. Not at high RPM, but the pick-up on it (on my car at least) is much improved. It's much easier to get the power down in the Tuscan, too, for some reason.

Handling: My Tuscan handles like a fridge on a rollerskate at high speed. It's trying to kill me and claim my death-in-service allowance. Really. It's feckin awful - tramlining everywhere, twitchy rear end, etc. I've driven much better ones than mine, though, and I'm only putting up with it for a couple of weeks whilst I wait for the Nitrons to be fitted. At low speed it's much more nimble, and I'm far more inclined to throw it into corners than I ever was in the Cerb - I think it's more of a driver's car. Once everything's sorted out, I think (hope) it'll handle better than the Cerb in every way.

Faith in the car: V8 vs S6. Hmmmm. Let's just say that when I had the Cerb I didn't permanently have £3k sat in the bank waiting to pay out on the fishiest of finger followers.

Public opinion: I seem to get a better reaction from people to the Tuscan - more people commenting (in a nice way), etc. Have yet to have it pelted with eggs like the Cerb, too. Frickin chavs.

Other things to consider: AJP is nearing the end of its life - how long are parts going to be available for from such a small manufacturer? Tuscan roof comes off. Cerb has a 5 year headstart on build quality/reliability. Flashy colours suit the Tuscan far more than the Cerb - if you REALLY want some chameleon/other trick paint job, I'd definitely get the Tuscan; I think that anything brighter/fancier than chameleon blue (i.e. any of the other purple ones, etc) don't suit a Cerb - they clash with its character. (This does mean that the Tuscan's not as classy a car to begin with, tho)

Subjective opinion:
It's nearly summer: Can't beat taking the roof off. And have you any need for rear seats?
You only live once: Personally, I want to have owned as many exotic cars as humanly possible in my life. I'm unlikely to ever look back and think "I wish I'd bought the same car twice". But I can imagine thinking "I wish I'd owned one of those for a year..." If you don't like whatever you change to at any point, sell it and get something else again.

at the third set of lights, the guy in the van pulled almost alongside and started waving frantically and gesturing behind him - I craned my neck out of the window in my blind spot was Mr

what a star! I hadn't spotted and was about to smoke a BMW off the lights

Was hoping to have the full in-car entertainment sorted for then, too, but it's taking a while to get the widescreen display delivered. Not quite as impressive having Days of Thunder playing on a laptop display.

The downside of the valetting is that I can now clearly see all the stone chips in the bonnet, doors and windscreen . Nevermind, something to save up some pennies for I think.

Forget re-sprays, waste of money, just purchase new panels from scrap, any colour will do and call it a 'Harlequin'........VW did it with the Olop
