Photos Organising Help!

I am having some problems with the organisation of my photos.

I have the backups of the photos sorted. But what do people do with the originals and one that they want to share with others..

I have one master library of photos at home, but with the family etc coming around at christmas i would like to stick them up on the TV via the AppleTV box. There are some photos that are just not worth showing!

Are there any applications that will allow me to go through my photos and publish them to a seperate folder on the drive so i can just import this into IPhoto?

I have seen apps that will let you flag the photo and then publish to a photobox, but i just want to duplicate this to another folder which will then be shared.

Would it not be easy just to copy and paste the ones you want to show into a new folder?

It probably would, but it will my other half going through them, so something automated would be better.

It's free, and you can do things like tag photos with names, mark photos as favourites and so on, then do searches, create slideshows or collages, or export to another folder.

The latest version has facial recognition which works reasonably well. You can ask it to show you all photos of 'Graham', or photos that are red, or photos with a 'christmas' tag on them and you get just those ones shown without having to copy or delete actual pictures on your hard drive.

As it's your OH going thorugh them. How about if she wrote the photos number, or however they are identified, on a piece of paper. Then you can copy and paste them at your leisure. Or she could copy and paste them herself once she knows what ones she wants.

Most of my photos at the moment are tagged in some way. So for instance if i wanted to export all photos tagged with "Portugal 2010" i can then export (Copy) to a seperate folder.
