After a 7 year lull I managed to get pulled over for speeding earlier today. As they say "it's a fair cop" as I was undoubtably speeding at the time and have only myself to blame.
Why announce this? Well the strange thing was the officer who stopped me was almost apologetic for doing so and even complemented me on my safe driving. Shame then that I ended up with a ticket but given that it was a fixed penalty rather than the defacto court visit that would otherwise be required under the circumstances.
It also proved that the speedo on my car is way off (at least 14% over when actually travelling at 70mph) and that my GPS system is accurate to within 1% (as expected).
So a thank-you to the gentlemanly officer who stopped me and if I ever get pulled again (more likely when) I just hope that the next one is just as thoughtful and generous (unlike some that I have met under such conditions).

Well written.
I must say that I'd far rather been stopped and dealt with by a pleasant and fair minded BiB than simply receive a NIP in the post some days after the event saying plead guilty by post or expect something far worse in court with no chance of at least expressing your side of things.
At least most BiB are fair, to my mind. Mind you it could be an age thing on my part as most of em are younger than me these days...

Well done to Jimbro for taking it on the chin. Not like the git I once worked with, who wrote a grovelling letter to the court when he got done for doing over 100 and was facing a ban. He pretended he had left his tablets at home (he was a diabetic). IMHO the Judge should have told him that he shouldn't have been driving if he had forgotten to take his tablets and banned him anyway.

Was it an undercover BiB? I ask as i live just off the A303 so travel it now and again...
No, this was a full on battenburg, but with no visible markings on the front until you got *really* close! I'd seen him about 1/2 mile behind me and at that distance it was just another white car.
Annoyingly my laser detector didn't spot him either - because I had the roof down which was blinding the sensor to the rear! The warning only went off when the slope of the road put him above me - was a bit late by then...

My ex-boss's son did something similar. He was caught doing 48 in a 30 and had a go at the plod who pulled him, then wrote an angry letter to the court saying that he'd spoken to a policeman friend who said he wouldn't have pulled someone for doing that speed on an empty road at night.
Twerp.
