Delete problem in OE

Hi Guy's
can you help with the following?
When I try to delete the e mails in Outlook Express, a dialogue box pops up and tries to install MS Office, which I have to cancel several times before it behaves normal again.

What I think is happening is that OE is convinced that it needs a component (that may have been damaged) to delete the message and is prompting you to install it before it can carry on with the operation.
