I've recently bought a '94 XJ6 3.2S, and need the o/s exhaust back box, and a complete rear bumper. I've spent ages searching online and haven't really come up with any places breaking one / selling these parts on a used basis.
Could anyone recommend an XJ40 breaker, or somewhere I could get these parts from? I'm fairly keen to avoid ebay if possible.

there is a XJ40 in http://www.u-pull-it.co.uk/home.html at their inverkeithing branch. the rear bumper is there as too are the rear boxes. The car is fire damaged but is fairly compleate bar the interior where the fire was.

don't know how handy inverkeithing is for you but U-Pull-It are nice anc cheap.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately that car is an X300. I'll keep an eye on their incoming cars though.

For secondhand parts I have bought from Eurojag and found them to be good and used Grublogger without a problem. I am also a member of www.xj40.com which is very useful for sourcing parts. There is a member on there (xj12-rob) who is a well known and extremely knowledgeable enthusiast of the XJ40 and he has helped me with technical issues many times. Apart from being very willing to help, he also has a large number of spares for the XJ40. Rob sells these on ebay as well but knowing the source is reliable removes the random Ebay element and the risk of wasting your money.

There are lots of spares on Ebay for the XJ40, reflecting perhaps their low value and the sad reality that many are broken for spares as a result of suffering trivial problems. This makes most parts cheap and readily available. The exhaust back box is such a part and not at all expensive.
Unfortunately, the rear bumper will prove more difficult to obtain cheaply. Rot free rear bumpers are fairly rare because the XJ40 is largish and owners tend to reverse into things and bend it. It also traps water and rusts badly, even on otherwise good cars. Eurojag should have them, but they may not be cheap.

Hope this helps.

You could also try Berkshire Jag spares.
I've found them really helpful.

Thanks for the continued pointers smile

I now have in my possession a genuine backbox (used, £25) and have sourced and paid for a good used complete rear bumper inc hangers, reflectors etc for £70.

Shortly after Paisley Freight pull their socks up and deliver the bumper, my car should be finished!
