What power gains have you achieved?
Discussion
By fitting short induction pipes and having it re-mapped.
I know there was a group buy last year and was interested in what actual gains were achieved. Mine has been on the dyno at RaceProved and achieved 377bhp, Joo tells me that this is not too bad for a standard car running linked decats with a sports exhaust. He also said after looking at the graph that it should easily achieve 400+ bhp due to it's current mapping, i think he said it was running extremely rich??
Cheers

Rolled into a certain genius' workshop with 326 bhp.
Induction kit and remap, walked out with 388 bhp.
Brought her home, put a sports exhaust on and now rated at 404 bhp (different dyno).
Smother than a babies bum over 2500 but a hole in the rev range at 2400 (which is bloody annoying when blipping for down changes).

Whts that ? 470 hp from a 4.5 with short induction and a remap. I have asked you before how you achieved this. It seems to me you are using an optimistic rolling road and you are more likely to be at 420 ish? If you do have a method to achieve this then speak up as you could make some money!
My graph is up north and I'm in London!
Mine is nowhere near 470bhp.
Mine has some physical engine mods eg to the heads. I have a mapping tweak to adjust fuelling. I dont have short induction or a full remap. So only 437 bhp I think, from memory. Could break 450 but I like the way the car drives and don't want to move the torque etc

More importantly, what's the terminal speed on that 470 brake Cebera over the 1/4 mile ?

The only true and very accurate power calculator.
Good launch or bad, the terminal speed will always be within a mph or 2.
Ask Paul Black.... 11.7's all day @ 128 then when he got his launch sorted 11.1 @ 129. (575bhp LS btw)
A good Cerb should be around 115, one with 470 bhp should be well over 120

Yes i understand it's a very simplistic way of looking at power, but humour me - just the gains achieved is all i'm interested in, i'm having the kit fitted anyway as it's one of upgrade items on my list. Also, i don't expect their to driveability issues when completed, certainly not after Joo and /or Russell have worked on it.
Why are you only interested in what gains you can achieve? Is it for Willy wagging, or a proper reason?
You can start off with a badly set up engine that has only 300hp. Get the engine set up correctly, add a short induction kit, and a remap, and you can drive out with 420hp.
Or you can have a well set up engine that is on 380hp, and a remap and short induction kit may only give you 400hp.
It depends on a lot of factors, exhaust, cams, engine balance, and also wether it was Fred or Bert who built the engine, and was it built on a friday afternoon or a monday morning.
The main benefit of the re-map is driveability. Standard 4,5 Cerbs have a notorious Camel hump in the power graphs, the re-map smooths everything out, the bonus is a few extra HP.

I can't remember the exact pre-remap figures for mine, I think it was similar to yours, and it went up to 406. So you should make 400 easy. In all honesty it didn't really feel any quicker, but the car did feel a lot smoother - probably only a stop watch would tell the real story.
After you've had your suspension upgraded, Geo set, and all the other niggles sorted out, if you still have a grand burning a hole in your pocket then it's worth doing.

Very good advice imho - have your car set up properly (suspension/Brakes) before you fiddle with the engine. After you've had your suspension upgraded, Geo set, and all the other niggles sorted out, if you still have a grand burning a hole in your pocket then it's worth doing.
