I've got an E46 3 series and the battery charges whilst in the ignition through induction. I've not used the car much for the past 6 months and have been keeping the car battery topped up, but the key battery is pretty much dead.

Anyone found a way to charge the key without doing a 10 hour drive?

In theory I'd presume a device ginving off a similar induction field should be able to do it, like say a contactless electric toothbrush cahrger/holder...?

For anyone having this trouble in future - strapping the key to a SOnicare or similar contactless toothbrush charger for 24 hours works :-)

CIS121's suggestion of strapping the key to a Sonic toothbrush charger does seem much simpler though!

Will have to get myself a toothbrush charger and try this, my key is on its way out.
