Driving experience for a friend
Discussion
I have a very good friend who is looking for a driving experience in a nice fast car, perhaps doing something at Elvington.
Unfortunately for Mark, he is terminally ill and has lost around 50% of his vision, not in a sense that it's half as good as what it was but, as in it's limted in what direction he can see. Would something like the 6th Gear trackdays be able to accommodate someone in this position, as in he'd go out with an instructor to just pull back a cars lugs in a straight line?
He loves driving but hasn't had the pleasure for 18 months now and is pining to get behind the wheel of a car, so any advice would be most welcome.

Why don't you write a personal e-mail to Simon George (Simonspider on here) to ask? Would be more appropriate than an open posting on a public forum perhaps.
I had a great experience with them recently in a Supercharged Atom, but their events are very busy and the track is crowded, so I doubt it would be good sense to do anything normal. The perceived risk would be massive to them I'm sure.
HTH.

Hi Stu, I will contact Simon and thanks for the suggestion, no harm in asking the question. I mentioned 6th gear as it was the first to roll off my tongue
so didnt write it as an intention of attracting their attention to discuss here. Thanks again.cheers,
Leigh.

without being too blunt/direct I have a vmax next spring, am sure I can sort something out for this during the lunchtime break if you could bring him. My 996TT X50 he could use
Hi Craig, blunt and direct is good and what another fantastic offer, thank you.Edited by CraigVmax on Friday 26th November 10:52
Would that be the Brunters Vmax event you're refering to? It's something I've always fancied doing at some point but it'd be great to come down with Mark and watch him enjoy himself.

Drop me an email, I'll sort him out with my compliments. We havent any events till March and as it happens its normally not too busy in the early part of the season so I'll put him with an experienced Instructor and he'll be fine.Unfortunately for Mark, he is terminally ill and has lost around 50% of his vision, not in a sense that it's half as good as what it was but, as in it's limted in what direction he can see. As a side issue, last year we were asked to do a corporate day for the RNIB, yes the blind - I thought it was a wind up at first but then we arranged 50 totally blind people to drive the Supercars up and down the runway at Elvington. Bizarre but most of them were as good as if not better than sighted people. Once the instructors figured out to keep the windows down (so they could feel the wind rushing past) they followed all the directions given to the letter and were fine. The Guide Dogs didnt drive before anyone asks

And I'd happily add my name and car (aqcuiring very soon, likely to be similar to Craig's) to this list for use at the next V Max Lee.Edited by CraigVmax on Friday 26th November 10:52
Massive respect to Simon and Craig for their generous offers.

Indeed Stu!
So, you're heading into pork ownership then? 996tt is a good choice and when you say similar to Craigs, I presume a topless version is on the cards?
And thank you too sir for the offer.
So far, Simon has come up trumps with inviting Mark to go out in a couple of supercars next year when the season starts, along with some hot pax laps as well. Think he might need to get those guide dogs in for the marshalling though

Craig's sorting something out at the Vmax in spring and I'm really am blown away by the generosity of the PH collective. I take my hat off to you all.

Oli, long time no see mate and thanks to you as well for your offer. At this rate, he'll have plenty to go at.
