Electric blanket recommendations
Discussion
Wimp alert but my excuse is I'm in a rather old timber frame cottage with crap fitting windows. Anyhoo, I'm looking for recommendations for a king size blanket, I had one years ago but it really annoyed me because the lead socket was on the top and I was forever banging it with my elbow, are all the washable ones like that or are there any sensible ones where the connector is on the side?

It'll go on top of a memory foam mattres so just want it to take the initial shock off getting in to bed.
Cheers,
Rob

until you said memory foam i had the answer, as i have managed to fit mine inside the mattress cover with the lead coming out the corner of the zip. works amazingly well without being able to feel that its there.
have you thought about an electric throw? you can stick it between the mattress and duvet to warm the bed, then either lay on top of it or get underneath it.

Same problem here, and we've just bought this one - http://www.johnlewis.com/230856012/Product.aspx Had the same problem as you with an older one, got very annoyed with the connector poking me in the middle of the night. The Dreamland ones still attach on the side, but the connector is very slim, and as the thing is also quilted/padded, you barely notice it. We've had it for a week or so now and are loving it! Such relief to leg it from downstairs by the log burner and leap into a warm bed!
Results are in as the blanket has arrived - good job I'm off work today. I got the fleece one rather than quilted just due to availability, very pleased too. The connector block is small and slimline and is on the underside of the blanket so barely noticeable at all. Quickly bunged it on and turned it up (it really should go up to 11, Marketing team failure again
), toasty in minutes, just what I wanted. Thanks for the recommendation!
