I attempted to change the low beam bulbs today with some Osram night breaker plus ones. Accessed the back of the bulb no problem through the access panel in the wheel arch. But for the life of me I couldn't get the plug off the back of the bulb. I didn't dare apply any more force. I attach a picture. I assume I should just be able to pull the black plug off of the bulb? It did move slightly, but I just couldn't remove it.

Any tips?

Wiggle wiggle left to right and pull. Hold the bulb still with your other hand if you can.

Take the spring clip off, little bit of slack in the cable means you can get 2 hands on it. It will need a firm wiggle.

Thanks guys. I'll have anothe go in the daylight tomorrow. I'm sure the plugs should just come straight out, I'll be a bit braver on my second attempt.

I always pull the plug off before un-cliping as the bulb will just come out when you are trying to pull the plug.

I actually tried to get the clip off but the plug is in the way. I'll tackle it with some gloves on today and be a little more brutal.

For sale:

One pair of Osram Nightbreaker Plus.

I give up. Went out again and tried the other side, this time armed with a pair of leather gloves. The black plug simply wont budge, I really daren't apply any more pressure. I wiggled and tugged, but alas no joy.

I'm sure it shouldn't be this hard? Unless it's a BMW conspiracy and only they have the special little tool to remove the plug laugh

Go to Halfords, they will fit them for £6-7. You don't have to buy the bulbs there, done the same last year.
