I've just had delivery of my new 320d Eff Dynamics and had specified the USB port to allow connectivity of my iPOD. I understand I now need to purchase a "Y-adapter 30-pin plug to USB and AUx-IN' cable which apparently is a BMW accessory in order to gain full control through the built-in steering wheel controls etc

Does anyone know of another good quality cable that will work - the only one I've found is 1.5m long! it only needs to be about 10cm!

The BMW cable is about 25cm long and costs circa £40.
It also charges your ipod/iphone.

The cheap Y cables for under a tenner on Ebay don't work, as confirmed by trying mine in a mate's 135i with USB. I think it's because the BMW cable actually has some electronics / additional wiring to allow it to act as an ipod docking station (so can control the ipod/phone track selection etc), whereas regular cables don't, they're only wired to do charge / basic sync via USB.

I just sold my old one on ebay for £9.99 + postage.

There are some floating around if you have a look and you won't pay £40.
