Pedals v Engine - Downhill

Impressed at the way David Knight managed to bully that big moto-xer through the tight turns and singletrack - it was out of the bike's 'comfort zone'.
O/T PistonHeads moment: I can never see that iron bridge (start of the clip) at Ballachulish without experiencing a simulataneous flutter of the heart and sphincter - I went up there one (wet) summer in my first Griff (24 years young at the time) and got the car spectacularly out of shape on the exit of the roundabout heading towards the bridge from the south.

I thought he did well. I wonder what the split time was at the end of the woodland bit near the bottom before it opened out for the last little bit?

From the split times it gives you the crosser was ahead for the 1st half, the bike just had a very quick bottom half, mainly over the jumps.
I'd say it was the twisty, rooty bit through the trees. I suspect the enduro bike probably clawed a little bit back on the last few hundred yards where it opens out.
Either way, bet it was fun finding out.
IIRC It's not the first time this has been done and the DH bike always seems to come out ahead (on a specific DH course, probably better known to the DH rider etc. etc. etc.)
Gee Atherton is the UCI World DH Champion and also won the UK round on the same course earlier this year. He's ridden that hill dozens of times over the years whilst it was probably the enduro riders first time by the look on his face at the start. He did pretty well IMHO to get within 5 seconds of Atherton. Would have been interested to see what would happen if they had swapped bikes.
