Morning,
I am looking to purchase a new TV in the next week or so.
I have my eye on the LG 37LE5300:

Richersounds currently have this for £499.99 or £549.94 with a 5 year guarantee

Good choice or is there a better TV for the money (1080p, edge LED, 28mm thick, 1080p)

Too much of a generalisation - not all processing is the same, not all tuners are the same, and there's enough difference between LCD and Plasma regarding the latter being more sympathetic to poorer signals.
So the 42S20 is only out of the running on cost, and the 37X20 is the best "small" display all round.
Find a local AV store that has the Panasonics on display, and go see them with regular broadcasts being displayed, not cartoon movies which only serve to flatter LCDs in the likes of Currys, etc.

I went for the 37" although I've since noticed the 42" is the same price! I run mine with skyHD and I've been very pleased with it. I work in the TV industry so can compare it with the professional stuff at work and it compares VERY well. I find I have to back the contrast off slightly but other than that a very good picture for the money. I cant comment on the freeview performance as I've not tried it.

There isn't much between the 37 and 42 in price at the moment.... The only reason I am going for 37 is because I was undecided between the 32 and 42. The 42 may look a bit big in my lounge. That is a pretty good endorsement if you are in TV industry. I'll be sure to check the TV out with a freeview source.
