Did post this in the Biker Banter section but thought I may get a better response here

After having a big crash on my MX bike a few years ago (I had only had it a few months) I decided to sell it, I am now getting the itch to get back on one, well more of a trail/enduro bike and do some green laning and then hopefully some H&H etc

What I don’t want to have to do is get another tow bar fitted to the car and buy another bike trailer, so I am hoping that there are some easily accessible green lanes etc locally (i.e. no more than 20 odd miles from home)

Does anyone from the Southampton / Portsmouth areas do any green laning and know if there are any local routes I can get too without too much road riding

There's hardly any in this area thanks to the bloody Government/Hampshire County Council/Red socks and bobble hat brigade!

Most got reclassified as retricted byways and are now closed to motorised traffic.

That's not good, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to go and buy another trailer etc.

May have to have second thoughts about getting one

Have a look here http://whereilive.hants.gov.uk/rightsofway/webform... it's an interactive map that shows the byways etc, you'll be looking for the brown ones................

Once upon a time you used to be able to drive the blue ones.

There are a few around Petersfield that are still open byways.
