May be a repost, but who cares, watch it again anyway. You may not drink drive, but we all know someone who does. Make them watch it.

I think adverts like this certainly would really hit home with more people than any adverts ive seen previously.

When I first started uni we had a presentation done by the local police and fire departments and they showed us a video which gave out a similar feeling, seeing adverts like these is the only sure fire way to hit home with some people i think.

They are a bit tamer than the Northern Irish ones I think. They were from the UK and pretty hard hitting too.

Seems to be working too, really low number of deaths on the road this year (same year the PSNI decided to stop concentrating on speeding on our 3 or 4 motorways as an aside)

Yes I remember the irish ones to be very hard hitting. It's what is needed IMO. The scene where the car comes crashing through the fence where the little lad has stopped to get the football is deeply shocking.

The Hollywood style crashes spoil it, it detracts from the message if your left thinking "A car wouldn't leap into the air and do a triple barrel role then explode just because the drunk guy at the wheel braked too hard somehow".

Yep, we do a pretty good line of public service ads in NI, we always have done. I reckon a bit harder than the Aussie one and with the added bonus of no REM.

Brings home the fact that it's not just the drink-driver who suffers!

That rely on the government spending any money of TV ads. The THINK campaign only have enough money to run radio and poster ads this year.

But I agree,we need hard hitting ads, rather than the PC rubbish they insist on showing!

This is also really good, from Queensland, Australia:

It's not just the traffic ads that can be graphic.
I took a photo of cigarette packets in Malaysia:

I dont drink and drive as rule anyway, couldnt live with the guilt if I injured or killed someone. I have been tempted on a few occasions but I always think of ads like this when I get the urge. I think its the music that makes the ad, didnt think the NI ad was nearly as bad as the other too.

The UK simply lowers the limit as an attempt to stop people drinking before they drive. How in the holy fk does a lower limit stop a drunkard taking to the wheel?? Typical non-active approach to enforcing the law.

It is easy to talk tough, and change laws, but actually doing something to the individual, getting out and going one on one with the motorist, is too hard, too confrontational. Far easier to sit in an office and watch Speed Scameras and ANPR at work.
