Hi,

I'm currently looking for an M5 and went to see one yesterday that matched the spec I want, right colour, right options etc. Not going to buy this one as it didn't feel right but it has had loads of work done under warranty, is this a good or a bad thing.

It's an 05 with 50k on it, had failed to start a few times and been back to BMW, they ended up swapping the fuel tanks on it. Vanos replaced, SMG gearbox replaced...

The car looked clean and wasn't bad, but the work it's had done concerns me. Should I be thinking, "it's had it done so that's good as it's new" or "what else is going to go wrong with this bad egg"?

Multiple problems...fixed multiple times, I'd walk away, chances are there's other stuff ahead and there are enough cars out there to find a better one IMHO

If I see a car advertised as "had £000's spent . . ." I walk away - it will continue to need to have £000's spent!

"high-maintenance"

Or maybe the owner was right on the ball and put it in as soon as a problem occured and insisted on a proper fix, just a thought....

what colour is it mate?
I had an 05 40k mileage interlagos blue M5, it spent a quarter of the time I had it at the BMW repairers, absolute lemon of a car and just when i thought nothing else could go wrong since most has already been repaired under warranty, the car would go and find itself a new fault! (the number plate was something like LJ55 VFE)

Can't really see the problem of loads of warranty work on a car. Probably better than a car that's not been back for warranty work.

If the price is right and the car is sorted, why not buy it?
