Did anyone see this last night in the Inverness area? 'Thundersnow' I believe it's called - a thunder and lightening storm associated with snow. Very weird, something I've never experienced before. The heavy snow clouds caused the whole sky to light up with realy bright blue-white falshes and, unless you were right below it, very little thunder noise (since the snow deadens the sound). I thought that the invasion had begun!
I saw it last year on the Norfolk/Suffolk border as the weather turned nasty before Christmas. It looks amazing, I didn't realise you could get lightning in snow either.
About -10 (according to the car), blizzard and 30mph (at least) wind, I wasn't planning on standing outside for long. Strangely the layer of snow on the front of the house (right to the eves) was thicker than on the ground. Standing in the north facing bedroom looking at the windows was like driving into snow with the wipers turned off and it just built up.
Luckily they'd just finished fitting the double glazing the day before and yes, it made a big difference.

Went sleding this morning and got the 90 stuck ,first time in years! snow tyres would have made no differnce, was bellied. ground clearance, which proves how deep it is.
May i also say the new Costco sledges are rubbish, bad design flaw in them would avoid!
