Grit / clear your driveway

I live in a cul-de-sac where several of the end houses are up on a little rise, thus have inclined driveways. Looked out of the window earlier and the neighbours car (which had recently been parked on their snow covered driveway) slid off, and into my mates car, which was parked opposite the drive. Never seen or heard of this before.
