Translucant number plate

Hi

I am after some of the translucant number plates for my mk3 golf. Is TVR in blackpool the only place to purchase the Griffith number plates? Also looking for some second hand lighting to go behind them.

Any TVR main dealer should be able to supply them. Christopher Neils in Cheshire certainly do - 01606 41481 - expensive though, about double cost of normal plates.

You could try Bestplate in Blackpool, they lease the number plate printing systems to most of the main dealers in the country, they also make them to order

But as has been mentioned before, unless they have changed, last August, their translucent plates, well, aren't! Very good plates otherwise though and I have just ordered a set for the uber-cruiser

They are translucent but the ones I have are not reflective, I'm not sure if that's an issue or not.

Just had an email from FancyPlates confirming that the new plates they are supplying will be both translucent and reflective with the honeycombe effect using the same material used by TVR. I'll confirm on here once I receive mine in the next few days.

Joolz/Wooly - if the backing material is white, sorted. Mine was grey and although "slightly" translucent hardly let any light through from the actual number plate lights.

They are good though, I've just rung to say my standard ones haven't arrived yet from last week... suspect a combination of the post office and new build house having a name instead of a number... and they are sending another set without even being asked.

when did TVR (on the Griff) stop using the translucant rear number plate ? My LE has two lights above the rear number plate

I think it was on the LEs, along with a few other nice little aesthetic upgrades.

TVR are a funny company I met up with Los angeles at the weekend and we noticed that both cars Griff LE's Gareths has a translucant style of number plate and mine has the angled number plate with 2 lights above.
As they say no two TVR's are the same. LA cool car.

Rec'd new rear plate yesterday and fitted last night.
Plate is now reflective, looks good with the honeycombe effect and has the white backing which is sufficiently translucent.

Will now have to get a honeycombe effect on the front plate to match !.

While the rear plate was off I removed the number plate light covers and took the opportunity to increase the size of the TVR 'crudely cut' holes in the bodywork with a hasp file (reduced size had been obscuring the bulb and therefore reducing the amount of light in the area behind the number plate)

How did you get the lights covers off Wooly, just snap the rivets? If so, how did you re-attach them?

Burriana500 - from inside boot squeezed in underside of rivet using pliers / mole grips to reduce size, then pushed up rivets from below while gently levering cover.

Was going to remove rivets from cover and re rivet but couldn't find rivet gun !, so reinstalled with old rivets and silicon - may have to re do this at some point.
