Operation Stack

Hello all,

I keep hearing Sally Traffic talking about how Operation Stack will be implemented. I get that it is something to do with Channel Crossings and lorries, but thats about it.

As I'm a) not a truck driver and b} from that neck of the woods, could someone explain the what and how it gets implemented?

I think that it is when they turn the M2/A2 into a car park.

It's actually the M20 and on some occassions the Motorway is a car park all the way back to the Great Danes roundabout.

It causes bleedin chaos at that junction.

We have Operation Stack here in Suffolk as well when the Port of Felixstowe gets shut due to high winds. The cranes can't unload the containers so all the lorries have to wait up on the old A45 at Levington between Ipswich and Felixstowe.
