s type, reading dtc's

Hi All,
wonder if anyone can help me, i have a 1999 s type and it's running like a bag of sugar. I have an elm 327 diagnostic sode reader but it doesn't seem to want connect to obd, is this compatible with the car? does anyone know a way i can read the codes?

Check for vac leaks around the back of the V,as the breather elbo normally collapses. Then book it into a Local indie with Autologic and pay them to fix it.
You won`t be able to re program the throttle body if you take the manifold off.
