Range Rover Service & Parking Distance Control Issues
Discussion
Dear All,
The wife has a 2005 RR TD6 and it has been great but I have 2 issues that I'm hoping someone can help me with
1) We are yet to have it service !!! We have had the car 2 yrs and have done maybe 20k in that time, it has had a an oil service (as per the dash indicator) but the service indicator has never shown up and we have therefore not had it serviced. I discussed this with my indy and he said to stick with the service indicator. Is this correct ? or should I just get a full service on it ? (including gearbox fluid ?)
2) The PDC has bust recently, a long beep and the button is flashing indicating a fault. Any suggestions as to how to diagnose ?
Thanks in advance

For peace of mind i would give it a full service, i got my 04 freeby done on friday, all filters and fluids were changed.
For the gearbox fluid, they can fail if the fluid isnt changed, usually 70-100k is the mark but some dont. Towing reduces the mileage, you can get the fluid changed at your specialist. Again for peace of mind and that a TD6 gearbox 2nd hand will be min £1000. I would do it.
Parking sensers.. are they clean or have any water in them? Check the wiring as well as they could chaf or frey and that may cause issues, or one of the sensors may have broken. If that happens then the system doesnt work, it did so on my freeby when i broke a sensor
Good luck.

The PDC sensors can sometimes be heard to 'tick' faintly when armed. Get your ear down to the bumper and listen out for the one that's silent.
As for the service, it's had an oil service around 10k ago? That's about right. It will be due one soonish, depending on how you drive it. I doubt if it will be long before the reminder pops up on the display, but as above, it's no issue if you service it ahead of schedule.
