Dream driving game set up?

Hi folks, a million years ago, I used to love my driving games... I had an original xbox and my fave game was FM1.

So, roll forward a few years and I'm totally out of touch! So my question is, what would be your dream package: console, game and controller (wheel?)???

Interesting that gt5 is getting the nod... I thought it wasnt widely liked??

What's the view on wheels? Are logitech up there? G27?

Not sure where you got that view from. Been browsing Xbox forums for reviews? There are issues with the game, certainly - but there's no question that set up correctly, and played for longer than 5mins, it's the best console racing game around.

Yes, logitech are still the dominant steering wheel company. The G25 and G27 walk all over most others (with the exception of maybe those Fanatec Porsche wheels, which are comparable, so I understand).

tbh, i have only read threads on here!

it seems there's a real gulf in wheels price wise. You seem to have th £40 option, next stop £350!!

seems like a big difference, or am I missing something altogether?

The Logitech Driving Force GT seems to be about the best "introductory" wheel from what I can see. Obviously geared towards GT5 but should be useful in other games too.

GT5, being the latest release, is better than FM3. But FM4 should be out this year, which may tilt the balance back.

I used to be able to find a video of an amazing set up. Some guy built a racing cockpit under his floor in his entertainment room. At the flick of a switch, the floor opens up and a seat /wheel pedals appeared, all powered with pneumatic rams. You press another button and the feet pedal slide out of the way and some aircraft pedals slide into place too.

Anyone have that link ?

I remember seeing a vid of some guy in a full race suit with helmet, hopping into a bucket seat that was set on springs, it leaned forward under heavy braking, back under acceleration and side to side. It looked amazing. Its the sort of thing that I imagine Goodwood to have

back in the real world, i like forza 3 and race pro on a 360 with a microsoft wheel.

the pc and ps3 have better wheels available (ie logitech) but the xbox has the best online play.

22 bullets starring Jean Reno. Very good movie, moody and athmospheric, as long as you mind the subtitles. If you don't normally watch subtitled films, you should persevere with this one - 7/10

Fast Five - fast cars, gun fights, hot women, cheesy one liners - what's not to like?! Setting the movie in Rio is enough to remove that American veneer and to makes it feel a bit different. Switch off your brain, open your beer and enjoy one of the most enjoyable action movies in ages. It took them 5 films to get it right but, it was worth the wait - 9.5/10

(10/10 still reserved for that perfect movie I have yet to see)
