I have to say, I haven't noticed any frame drops myself, playing on a very old (non-HD) TV. Why do you think that changing TV settings would improve the PS3 processing speed?

Isn't there an option in the display set-up to tell the PS3 which resolution your TV supports?

If you're using an analog connection (SCART or Component cables) then there's no method to change the screen res, as this is a function of digital displays.

Eh? It's a solid 60fps for me.

The cars are fine and smooth but the background moves in noticeable frames, same problem that Prologue had. Doesn't do it in HD...

I did drop my display settings to 720 in an experiment to see if the woeful screen-tearing was any better... It ain't. Turned it back to 1080/auto. Might as well have hi-res flicker-book tearing as lo.

That sounds odd, have you got all the TV's picture proccessing turned off?

Are you talking about V-sync (or lack thereof)? I don't think you can do anything about that.

Had stuttering on mine several times, like 1 second 'steps'.Quitting and restarting the PS3 sorted it.I'm on a 1080p TV btw and the PS3 is brand new.It sometimes won't do it for hours, then I load a certain track and it's back.

Not sure if it helps but have you tried turning it to the Game setting?

No idea what that is, I know me and a mate suffer the same issue. I think the game is obviously and quite rightly optimized for HD, so playing it on a standard tv its going to look a bit naff(er) Only the cars stand out graphically in this game.

I believe you see it in this vid, the car is smooth, the background is just not quite as smoothly flowing...
