Hello friends, i wanted to ask once why TVR is so cheap unlike Ferrari or Lamborghini. Does not understand me wrongly, iam a big fan from TVR, but i find the TVRs much more exclusive than Ferrari etc. is. Since everthing is produced in handwork. Therefor why is TVR so cheap?

Thanks already)

My inquisitive friend.

It IS interesting isn't it that TVR's cars can be produced relatively inexpensively in comparison to other hand-made exotica.

To be honest - no one is sure how its really possible - its a trade secret and TVR aren't telling - but the cognoscenti have a few theories I can expand on.

Firstly the use of slave labour imported from unknown countries kept in a huge cave under the Blackpool complex. These tireless workers slave away all night for peanuts, that's their food by the way, whilst the dayshift just come in for the sake of appearances.

Alternatively some believe that the innovative use of different materials - such as milk chocolate for some of the engine parts - could be a source of vast cost savings. There again - they clearly spare no expense on the use of real horses in their bhp transplants for these engines so who knows?

In truth it could be something more to do the Northern canniness of Mr Wheeler (TVR's proprietor)and Blackpool labour rates - a stick of rock for a hard day's work...

Or perhaps chassis does indeed know better.....

Once you've been to Blackpool you'll understand how they do it.

In Blackpool, labour costs are low (pre-decimalisation) so their wage bill is 17 and 6 shillings.

Business rates are 4 pounds a year.

They use cart-horses on a wheel to generate their electricity. They use a bannk of chattering women in a tank to generate pressure for their pneumatic system.

Their computer hasn't been used much in recent times, since coal became so expensive. So they cancelled their service contract.

It's cheap being TVR

I think part of the reason may be that they are GRP-bodied, not metal, so the set-up and tooling is relatively small.

Thanks for the answers, i know that but the people think a tvr in with a price from a porsche boxster S Oh no thats not a good car they think so in german where i from. But i know TVRs are THe Best cars in the world, best chassis, best engine, best design; i hope in the future its the same and it wont be any different like now. AND MY NEXT QUESTION. HAS TVR A "MODEL RANGE"?
i think so:

1: Cerbera:
cerbera 4.5
cerbera 4.2
Speed 12

Tamora:
T350 C / T / S
Sagaris

Tuscan:
Tuscan S / R
T440R
Typhon

Chimaera:
5.0l
4.5l

griffith:
4.5l
IS THIS ORDER RIGHT?

2: WHEN IS TVR UPDATED the model range like NEW CERBERA OR SOMETHING?

3: IS THE GRIFFITH AND THE CHIMAERA IN PRODUCTION NOW? BECAUSE THATS VERY OLD CARS: *G*

4 :I found tvr has for a little supercarmanufactor too many model ranges. what do you think.

5: and comes in the future much more model ranges?

I LOVE TVR

PLEASE ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS.

It can't be a low wage bill surely? The staff must get the going rate or else they'd move on & get snapped up by other marques? I reckon it's down to very low marketing costs as someone pointed out earlier - oh, and good management... small & controlable

Now having basically a single engine for all cars reduces R&D costs (if they could get any lower...)

Not having to comply to emissions/crash/other regulations for countries worldwide is a cost saver, too

Not having to fund a hugely expensive racing team (a la Ferrari) saves yet more (single races, etc. obviously aren't free, though).

Welcome to ph TVR TYPHON

I already saw your excitement about tvr on motortalk.
The current range is (as far as I know, but TVR changes that every motorshow):

Tamora
T350
T350T
Sagaris

Tuscan
Tuscan S

T400R/T440R (which was the Tuscan R, I think)
Typhon (which is the T440R or T400R but supercharged)

Cerbera

These are the cars that you could order right now, don't know about the chimaera if they already drop it or not.
You can go to www.tvr-sportscars.de to get more information.
