I was due to attend the Mallory Park event yesterday and it was cancelled due to the weather.

Just been told that there are no refunds, only credit notes! This is the first event I have booked with Focused Events and I'm not impressed.

Anyone else have experience of these guys?

I am sure they haven't paid the circuit, yet they want to keep my money.

Normally Focused Events back to back the agreement with the circuit, if Mallory give them their money back then you get your money back is how it normally works.

Yes, that's what I would have thought, however Focused Events will only give me a credit. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this but they wouldn't budge.

Bit of a bummer about just getting a credit note but aleast you now have and excuse for an extra track day in the spring.

I was at brands yesterday and it was hard to get any heat into the tyres and slippery as hell if you went off line, I will be awaiting the spring/warmer weather before venturing out again.

If you paid with a credit card why not see if they will refund the money ?

I think you'll find that the TDO will have paid the circuit in full about 1 month prior to the trackday - that is the normal T&Cs for hiring out circuits for trackdays.

If Mallory have refunded the TDO then I think you should expect a refund if you wanted it. But I doubt they'll get a refund, more likely they'll get a credit for another day in the future.

However the TDO should have a set of T&Cs which you should have been made aware of when you booked and it should explain all in there.

Credit notes ae pretty standard for cancellations

Push a bit harder and you may get a refund but FE are normally pretty firm.

They will have paid their deposit on the day months ago, and the final payment weeks ago.

Circuits very rarely (if ever) refund for snow, and a new date for them (credit note from the circuit) is also rare as they loose a spring date cheque. I'd be suprised if they get anything other than a "good deal" on another date and thats because they are a large company.

To be honest, if they are giving a credit note thats a good deal as they are under no obligation to refund for snow. Thats std TD operator policy.

Not used them myself, they were prodminately bikes before, but they are well thought of.
Enjoy yourself on another day...its a pain, but can't be helped.

Presumably they'd like people to make bookings between November and March, so perhaps being a bit more realistic about who should bear the risk of bad weather would be a good idea.

i think that sums up how i feel about f~#~##d e####s!!
they say one thing on the phone (twice confirmed with 2 different people)
then on the day deny all knowledge and extract large amounts of money!
needless to say won't be using them again.
un professional, money grabbing, what ever happened to the customer is always right !!, or yes we value your custom and will honour what you were told twice on the phone!
rant over!
+1

this is just ANOTHER thread that shows what they are like as a company.

there are many examples on the internet of the terrible ethics from the fat head of the company

Javelin Trackdays are offering Full Refunds for the cancelled Donington TD tomorrow and Cadwell on Saturday.

"Clients are then offered a full refund of entry fees, full credit or a rescheduled event."

Focused Events don't make their policy clear on their T's and C's. They are still flat refusing to give me a refund despite a politely worded email from me highlighting this. It seems they won't budge.

When I spoke to them he even admitted that they wouldn't have to pay Mallory although he said he had 'his people' up there who he had to pay. I asked him why he had sent people when the event was already cancelled and he didn't give me a proper answer.

So I will begrudgingly use the credit on one of their trackdays in the spring but never ever book another event with them.

My advice is don't book an event with them if there looks like any likelihood of adverse weather and you aren't happy with them hanging on to your cash till you go an a future event with them.

I also booked onto a trackday with this company.

Had 3 seperate conversations with them confirming details for the trackday. Including giving my correct email to them 3 times! They still have the wrong email address!

When the track day comenced one of the financial details had suddenly cheanged..... Now im £100 worse off. Not a great deal of money. However the pricipal of being told one thing and then the opposite occuring grates with me. The way it was handled on the day was pretty poor. The bloke was smug and un-helpfull.

I work in a customer-centric industry, so know a couple of things when it comes to keeping valued customers happy. The way way this company operates is clearly not with the customer experiece being one of thier top priorities.

Very poor and will not use them again.

Just had an email through from Javelin, apart from offering a full refund, they are also offering a £10 top up if you take the credit option instead thumbup

I know it doesn`t help those who booked with Focused, but the Winter cancellation policy is something I`ll bear in mind when booking future trackdays over the winter months.
