Video: 630hp V8 Skateboard

Skateboard legend Tony Hawk gets a new challenge

"What we've built here is a skateboard with a fully-fledged V8 fitted to it."

With an intro like that, there's not a lot more to say - except perhaps to ask why it has (apparently) not been done before.

Fully-fledged means 630hp, according to the nutters who built it, and the concept has been dreamed up to promote the attendance of skateboard legend Tony Hawk at the Sydney round of the V8 Supercars in December.

We don't think he's going to race it, but we can't help thinking there's going to be more video on the way...

"We've not really built any safety features into it, other than the big red button and the ability to run away"

Think I would rather play with the buggy lurking in the garage where they were building it!

Or use a big kerb for a nollie!!!

Good luck keeping stable on that though biggrin I remember a few of us hanging of the back of a mates car on our skateboards doing <>40mph in a car park. Christ the wheel wobble was immense once we let go!!!

Love it. Completely stupid, totally unnecessary and fair play for the idiot that thought it would be a good idea. biggrinbeerlaughclap

There doesn't appear to be a gearbox on this, just a hydraulic pump connected to the crankshaft that looks like it could have be driven by a moped engine!

As much as I like V8 engines and skateboards I genuinely can’t see the point of this! 630BHP engine with 10BHP at the wheels! rolleyes

PMSL! No offence, but what was the point of posting that?!

I somehow don't think this was aiming at the 458 or new McLaren...

I think he means why use a race tuned 630 BHP V8, they could have used the crate 350BHP version.

I would have thought this was funnier if they had used one of those little tabletop V8's and a more sensible sized skateboard!
