2006 S-Type and brand new Samsung 3300.

Sit in car with phone on.

Scan for networks from phone - nothing. Stupidly expected it to say 'System found - initialising - ready to use' or some somesuch.

Press phone button in car; it just says 'No phone connected'. Jaguar sits with its arms folded, sulking.

Consulted the handbook and it says only kind of phones are supported (but not which ones). So this bluetooth malarkey not as universal as they'd have us believe?

Going from memory, you need to put the phone into "discoverable" mode, then it should see the car bluetooth OK, you should be able to "pair" them up, and hopefully set up the pairing as "always accept connections" meaning that the car & phone will automatically sort themselves out when you start the car.

Hope that helps wink

Speak soon if you still have problems...

I think the option is called 'Always Visible'.

Always visible except to a Jaguar that is! Think it needs a white stick and a Labrador...

Sounds like a job for Head of Gadgets one day!

You need to type in a code from the Jag's Owner's Manual to clear prior pairings if this is the first time you have used the phone in the car.
From memory you need to type in another 5-digit code to copy your contacts from your phone to the car.
After that it should work fine. Hit phone button. choose number. dial.

OK the pairing code is 1313 which enter on your phone. It is a bloody cranky BT interface and the only phone that I have that works 100per cent is a Blackberry.

Once paired it will transfer the phone book across with some constraints.
One of whic is the 250 max entries. Another is the lack of sync with SIM stored numbers.

It isn't great and has caused me a lot of hassle.
