I had a similar issue execpt our car had been stood all weekend on a slight incline took it out reparked it the fault seemed to have gone when the mrs turned the car back on think it may well have had something to do with the cold!

I have had this as an intermittent fault on my 56 plate X5.

Last happened a couple of weeks ago when the car was parked on a slope that also fell away to the side so that one rear spring was compressed and the other not.

Drove it, switched it off and when I came back to it the message had cleared.

thanks for the replies
used the car today no warning signs so hopefully nothing to worry about
it's just that we have only owned the car a couple of weeks and hopefully it has no problems
