So what is the best brake pad for the Cerbera? based or road or track use, disc wear, pad life, dust levels and cost?
Mintex 1144 or 1155, EBC green or red stuff, Ferodo DS2000 or 2500.

This might be useful too. It's at the racier end of the market though!

Avoid EBCs... Mintex pretty good... Ferrodo better.
DS2000 for most applications. DS2500 is you absolutely cane the car on the track.

Steve - That's odd. I found Mintex to be better, IMHO, to the Ferodo DS2500. The Ferodo pad seems to dump a lot of material on the disc over time (and certainly during a day at the track) resulting in nasty brake judder. Up until that point though they are good.

I suppose this is a lot like tyre discussions. To a certain extent opinions will vary from person to person.

I'm using DS2000 on all my TVRs including the 520 which really does get caned. Tried most brands but have stuck to these for several years. Absoluteley no problems at all. The bite is a lot better than the Mintex and I find it gives me a lot more confidence. Mintex are good but they are not as resilient or have the same initial bite.

Braking and driving techniques can have a big big effect so there is no right and wrong answer... yes there is don't go near EBCs!

That's not fair! You just don't like them (which you are entitled to do). There's nowt wrong with EBC Greens on my car. I only use it on the road, and yes the brakes can be a bit 'entertaining' until they're up to temperature. But I imagine it's a totally different story on the track and they might not be up to the job as well as other pads. I think they do the road thing okay, I've heard they can be hard on discs, but have not noticed this for road use.

They are entertaining on the track as well. Never had any confidence in them. With sprinting I can't wait until they are warmed up. I need them to work from cold first time. The fact that they are iffy and uncertain until hot to my mind makes them a definite no no. You go out on the road and you never know when you need to brake. Having to have prior notice is not acceptable. I also found that they ate discs despite claiming to be disc friendly.

Go round a competition paddock and you will very rarely see them. That in my mind says something.

Still each to there own as you say.

That's the point though isn't it Richard? I've got EBC Greens on mine and I can't wait to wear them out at the next track day (I think they're v. good on the track BTW). It's that initial period on the road that I don't like. I find they are a lot worse on cold damp days to the point that I can stamp on the brakes as hard as I like and still not lock up or feel like I'm slowing sufficiently quickly.

Tried most stuff when I had the Cerb, and Ferodo DS3000 were the best by a long shot...although in fairness DS2500 were not one of the pads I did try.

Anyone tried Pagids? They were my favourite on previous cars -- same stopping power as the Mintex 1155s but with more initial bite.

Tried both EBC Greens and Reds, and won't ever be trying them again

I'm here. I put some Mintex (1144-MDB1292) pads on the front about 4/5 months ago, and I'm happy with them. They are stopping me when I want them too and dont squeal (It used to be my back ones that squealed, but not sure which ones I've got on at the back). I paid £50 for them from Partco.

I dont do any track days.

Just had an interesting chat with a technical guy from EBC and they DON'T advise fitting Green stuff pads to any car with over 200bhp. He is advising use the latest Red Stuff Ceramic pads anybody tried them? www.ebcbrakes.com
They seem very cheap at around £46 + Vat.

Which is interesting as EBC list Green stuff for a lot of cars with over 200 bhp. So if they don't recommend them why list them??
