Pistonheads / SE Scottish Awards Night - aftermath / Results
Discussion
Hi Troops,
Firstly, thanks to everyone who made the effort to attend the night and enter into the spirit of the proceedings.
A second thanks to the sponsors and donations all as detailed in Kenny's post yesterday.
Finally, thanks to Kenny for his massive amount of help and a well done to his superb presentation of the awards (even after I landed him in the sh!t by forgetting to bring his speech and notes). A big thanks to Shug from Scottish Elises, Campbell and Jen for all their help in the planning of the awards and stuff.
For those that were not able to attend, started with drinks, then a fabulous dinner. We then had the awards and a fantastic cocktail making class (inc free bevvy for Johnny Carrera) by 3x world barman of the year.
By this point many people were well on their way from sober and we retired to the games room for scalextics, playstation and banter followed by a disco and more bevvy. As Kenny mentioned we also managed to raise £472 for charity from the auction/games.
There were loads and loads of funny's on the night and it was really good to meet old and new friends.
My favourite joke of the night was during the awards (the SE guys are really good trackday drivers and their driver of the year was announced as a semi pro racer (and seriously good/quick driver)). Voted on and judged by a squad of ring veterans and european trackday junkies. The awards worked on a SE category followed by the PH award for the same category. After the Elises guys had gone through the possibles then 3rd, 2nd and 1st. kenny stood up deadpan and said "at pistonheads we dont really have any good drivers so we just gave it to the one who crashed the least" to a stunned silence then an almighty outburst of hilarity as the Elise guys realised Kenny was actually joking - You had to be there!!
Anyway down to the awards

PISTONHEADER OF THE YEAR
We had a few crackers for this, one chap for the fact his car is worth more than his house, another for the fact he pretty much started the excellent bunch of runs/friendships growing through PH scotland in the last couple of years. A few others for various reasons. But in the end it was an easy decision, there is one individual who supports pretty much every event he can, promotes an excellent social side to the site in the East and is genuinely one of the the Nicest and most helpful guys you'll meet on the site.
