These boil my piss.

Interim Service £119, for VWs up to 2 litre and 3-10 years old.

They will change your oil AND filter (they make a big point of the and), as well as checking X, Y & Z. All for just £119. Yes thats right, about £40 of parts and an hour's labour charge for not very much in exchange.

Doesnt take a mechanic (sorry Volkswagen trained technician) to tell me if my lights are working or my car is fked, it would be pretty obvious.

You even get a stamp in your service book too. Guess if you dont want that they could stamp "mug" on your forehead instead.

They have one for the MOT as well. £30 for an MOT, not bad, average.

However their main selling point is that its carried out by a Volkswagen trained technician. Well strike me down sour krauts, here was me thinking MOT regs & standards were policed by VO-SA and not VEE-DUB.

Pretty much sums up VW today. A brand and a badge, popularised by perception of the masses.

Thankfully I drive a car (which 99% of people think is ste anyway) and not a badge.

Anyway thats my poor attempt at a rant over. You can take the piss now.

That's pretty reasonable and the MOT is cheap. Their fixed prices on a lot of other jobs are very competitive too.

3/10? (sorry!)

£30 for a MOT is VERY cheap at a main dealer, i had to pay £53 at a local independent and never even thought of taking my car back to the main dealer - dam!

Also the rant about how much work they do in order for to to get a service stamp is poor, are you a mechanic yourself? I guess not as you wouldn't have to take your car to a dealer because its so simple you could do it all yourself.

Oil and filter change - with correct spec oil - at ATS is about £35. So nearly 3 times as much, even with a 'VW Technician' is taking the piss a bit.

correct spec could mean 10-40, but what type of oil and what manufacturer, these are equally important.

Also if experience and feedback on this forum are anything to go by you will not be getting a service stamp but you are likely to be shafted for some imaginary repairs if you are foolish enough to let them MOT your car.

And yet another thread bashing main dealers with no actual idea of what is going on

Given than our Labour rate is £120+VAT at the moment. Consider Minor (in this case) or Major (£229) servicing to be a good thing for the customer. Also fixed prices on cambelts, DSG oil changes and various other things. The MOT is only that cheap if you have the service btw. Compare that price to a BMW Inspection 1/2 or a Mercedes A/B service and given that it's 95% the same it's pretty good value.

It's VW's "great" idea to try and compete with the Kwik Fits of this world. Which is completely pointless as the type of person that comes to a VW dealer with a 4 year old Golf is (hopefully) not the same person that goes to Kwik fit for their £100 service. Where, I suspect, you'll be lucky to get the filter changed or even the sump plug tightened properly before being hit with a huge list of "must do" extra work.
