Westwood or G-Mac. I'd prefer G-Mac as he won a major, whereas Westwood became world number one without playing that much.

Swanny next year when we win the Ashes (again).

Have to agree on G-Mac, he's had an awesome year and is a great personality too. I was caddying for a friend on the European tour in 2007 and he played with G-Mac, who at the time had just re-dedicated himself and set out a four year plan. He made a lot of changes and sacrifices and it's so great to see it paying off for him now, he was a top guysmile

A list to give minority sports a chance.

AP McCoy would be my choice, more for his overall career rather than his achievements over the last 12 months.

G-mac for me. If Haye gets it the competition needs stopping. Although Giggsy did get it last year...

Sadly I don´t think the merits of the people is the key factor. If you look at the demographics of the audience and then the demographics of who votes on this show, then you´ll see that achievement is only 1 factor. Also important is how the individual comes across on the show as all 10 will get some viewing time. In a year of limited outstanding achievement I´d go for GMac or LW

Amy Williams will get it, due to her being the first british athlete for 30 years to win an olympic gold medal at the winter olympics. Either that, or jess ennis will get it for winning pretty much everything this year. Taylor wont get it, haye might be in the top three, dont forget calzaghe won it a while back, and thats about it, eveyone else wont get a look in is my prediction

sickening.

isnt motorcycle racing a sport?

in terms of acheivment, Ian Hutchinson's 5 TT Wins in a week overshadows most uk sports personalitys.

They only begrudgingly involved Carl Fogarty when he was winning the WSB every year.

It’s amazing the crowds that it gets, compared to how little attention the mainstream media give motorcycle racing.

I've been rooting for McCoy for years, and I hope he wins it this time.

The man is a marvel - 3000+ winners, hundreds of falls, broken nearly every bone in his body, 2 days off a year and coaxing and directing 3/4 tonne of horse up to 7 times a day where any mistake could lead to serious injury or worse on nothing more than sweet tea and jelly babies so he stays around 2 stone below his natural weight is amazing. I shall be getting my dad to vote for me! smile

even when we have won recent world titles, the most coverage we have had at SPOTY is toseland playing the piano.

yes, but like million time world champ phil taylor, hutchy's acheivements are in a minor sport as far as the beeb is concerened. If you read fogarty's autobiography, he was there one year with mcrae, and instead of either of those two, they gave it to johnathan edwards for breaking a world record. So hutcy and taylor are outsiders, as i think is mccoy, so that leaves realistically, ennis, williams and haye for your top three
