Yes, they are both closed, which road to drive from Manchester to Sheffield then?

Don't even try Winnats if the Snake is closed, it will be treacherous.

Best route when the snow is around: A6 past Whaley Bridge then turn left and across the tops, dropping down into Stoney Middleton. Generally lower in altitude but even this can be bad as its quite open so prone to drifting snow.

From here you have to drive up to Grindleford to get to Sheffield which is easier said than done; I'd stay at home!

M1 -> M62 or A625 -> A623 -> A6 -> M60

In the train an alternative?
