Just about to buy an 2003 SL55.

This is its history:

20/10/04 Service at 6000 miles
27/11/05 Service at 16,000 miles
04/07/2006 Service at 26,000 miles
05/07/2010 Service at 35,000 miles

Now that is one big gap in servicing and I was wandering what your thoughts are on this. It has only covered 9000 miles, but sadly has a 4 year gap in its schedule???

That would depend on what it's been doing - it could of course have been doing that regular 10K a year and been clocked. Seek an explanation from the owner. Did the same dealer do the servicing before and after the gap? If so ring them up and ask.

Just remember you will have to explain this gap in the future when you come to sell so unless the explanation is a good one then maybe walk away. It is a great car though so enjoy if you decide to buy.

I think the 55 sl can go about two years if the milage is low but not four, i just looked at a 55 SL 2004 with 29,000 miles on the clock and that had had only two services, that was one of the reasons i walked away.

Check the MOT history which should give you the mileage between 06 and 10.
