This article makes some very good points about the massive impact on cost in the Western economies due to reaction to terrorism, and how it is playing into the terrorist strategy more than the actual incidence of terrorist incidents.

The money that is "wasted" is spent on staff, equipment and infrastructure and has a direct knock on effect to business, employment and manufacturing.

Its not a total waste, it is however diverting funds from other place that has the knock on effect of making the community poorer, worse roads, less street cleaning, higher taxes, plus the hassle of security.

Its crappy situation which is utterly unresolvable, the extremists will only stop when all the world worhips as they do and the west will keep telling them to fk off.
