I have just bought a Tom Tom 1000 & I want to know if it's possible to transfer my favourites from my old Tom Tom to it is that possible.

I also have lots of POI's but I presume I can just drag & drop these into new map folder?

Thanks for any help
Howard.

Don't know much about the 1000 but on most other models the fav's are saved in mapsettings.cfg

Search the unit to see if it has one, and copy your old cfg file to that directory. If it doesn't have one, create a favourite and repeat.

Beware the looping reset mind.

If you have any trouble, ask the people that really know at pocketgpsworld.com

I thought custom POIs were not usable on the TT1000 yet - as they were in a rush to get them out before Christmas and decided to send them out with incomplete software.

The TT website says the update will be available in January.

From my limited reading, I did not think you can access file storage on the 1000 - it is not recognised as a drive by PC's.

I also read it did not have itineraries? Is that so? If so, it would be useless to many of us.

Grrr just discovered this is the case should have done some more homework before buying!

Really annoying as I have lots of useful poi's & favourites stored on my old unit.

Sounds like you should take it back. TT obviously have not designed this range for sophisticated users.

Currently with the Go-1000, Go1005 and Via devices you can't do very much at all in way of adding files to the device, at some future point the "MyTomTom" web kit browser will be updated so you can update maps, add voices and third party custom POI files, whether any of this occurs before the end of the year isn't known, neither is there a firm date full capability to be achieved with the device to PC interface.

With any of these devices connected to your PC you cannot see it using Windows Explorer so adding/ removing files isn't possible using traditional methods - Mike
