It's pub quiz night. I'm in Epping tonight and would go to Plumstead via South Woodford and the A12 / Blackwall Tunnel, leaving 1900h and leaving Plumstead at 2230h.

Anyone know what the roads are like tonight? Is it worth it? My snow tyres don't come til next week and I currently have 235/50R/18 on the front and 255/45R/18 on the rear, all summer tyres.

Well I answered my question. The last 1/2 cm of snow was turned to ice and I got 60 yards down the road and felt lateral movement at 20mph.

Cue a return to base.

I bet I have the sttest tyre setup for cold weather in the kingdom. Roll on next week when I get my 215/65/R16's on.

in Medway (North Kent) at the moment... Volvo S60T5, 225s all round, certainly slipping about but got to the end of my road...

Pug 306 behind me smashed into a kerb...

let both front tyres down, spun her round, RTB...

avoid residential areas and stick to the main routes and all should be well...
