Hi,

No such animal as a clutch cable on the Esprit. You have a hydraulic clutch. This uses a pedal operated pushrod to a Master Cylinder (located on the front firewall under the front boot). The MC compresses brake fluid in a line which runs to the rear of the car where it actuates a slave cylinder. This moves a push rod to apply pressure on the clutch fork which engages/disengages the clutch disc.

I suspect you may have a Slave or MC starting to fail. The internal seals go bad allowing fluid to pass by the seals.

You may also have air in the system and simply need to bleed it. Good Luck. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

See Lotus Esprit World for info on changing that useless 'red hose' you've got and changing both master and slave cylinders. That should make a big difference!

That is the clutch linkage that you are looking at.
The light is shining on the slave cylinder. You should have 12.5mm of the threaded bit sticking out from the nut- in the other direction!
Adjust it.
Give that a try, if it slips still, it is worn out or is glazed. Actually if it slips right now, the disc is either glazed or so worn, the rivets may be in contact with the flywheel.
