Ripping media onto a server - do it yourself?
Discussion
Plotters is currently sorting me out with a media server and a Pronto remote (thanks Plotless) but I then have the challenge of getting all my CD's, DVD's and Blu Rays onto the server.
Can you Outsource this? I'm sure someone on here recomended a company that did this but I can't find the thread.
As my CD collection is quite (well, very!) old, a lot of the discs are scratched. Can you get a company that can repair these so I can get the full collection in lossless format without any tracks jumping onto my server?
Thanks for any insight on this

Couldnt you get your butler to do it for you?
Sorry old bean, he's off sick this week (with no pay of course), and besides which he hasn't been on the 'repairing scratches on CD's to ensure the tracks don't skip course'Thanks for the suggestion though.
I did my collection of just over 1000 CD's in about a week. All I did was kept bobbing in to the office and plonking in a new CD every now and again. If I ended up doing some work or t'internet browsing I'd just let the computer keep ripping CD's whilst I was sat there.
It's amazing how quickly the pile goes down.
Although I haven't done any DVD's yet so don't know how long they would take.

I did about 500 CDs over a month using EAC. I did consider using www.ripcaster.co.uk, who have been recommended by others. They charge about 90p per disc for large numbers.
I did it myself as you still have to take all the discs out of the cases, and I was not certain about how good a job of ripping & tagging they would do if they didnt have to put up with the files themselves.
