Presume you posted this on the FMLB forum because the natives on the Merc forum might have other things on their minds e.g. particulate filters, engine rebuilds...smile

His excitement got to him. However, I was thinking before clicking the link, "I bet it's not as good as his excitement makes out" but I was wrong. Isn't this the machine that Mclaren F1 owners bought when they got bored of their F1s? (According to Car Magazine, IIRC.)

great race car, awful road car by all accounts. Straight cut gears that make a racket, a paddle shift gearbox with a foot clutch. Plus they couldn't even sell them new and resorted to hacking the roofs off the ones they had sitting around and tried to punt them as topless versions.

Awesome car. They have two at Brooklands just up the road.

I am going after the Sunday Service. I think they are still open on Sundays.

You are right. That was the Sultan's car. I am not sure they still have them- these were taken 3 months ago. But they have loads of SLR and SLS's.

Doubt it's worth a few million. I'd guess at less than £1m.

I know the rough poa as a client was thinking of buying it before it arrived at Romans. Very good value car and I reckon it'll only go up in value in the future.

There were 2 up for auction in summer, one coupe, one roadster. The roadster went for £616,000. The coupe went for £522,500.

half a million(ish) quid down the swanny and counting...

I was fortunate enough to see the GTRs and LMs race in 1997 and 1998 and they were fabulous GT1 racers. However, as a road car? Can't honestly think of anything more useless!

That is one of my all time favourite cars and I've still not seen one in the flesh. Guess I'll have to take the long route in to work soon.
