I'm looking to rent a car from january for 3 months to give me some time to consider my options on a new car whilst still complying with the new company car policy of nothing older than 5 years.

I've had a look at thrifty, and a couple of others with prices for focus etc at about 350 per month. The killer blow is the additional insurance at 150 per month!, I can't insure on my policy as car isn't owned by me, and temporary insurance is still well over 100 per month.

Can anyone help with car rental, temporary insurance, or wants to hire me a less than 5 year old car for three months?

I know that in Australia the french manufacturers do something they call holiday leasing which sounds like it is what you need.

For longer periods - 1 month and above - it works out much cheaper than renting a car.

ETA - the cars are available in the UK and throughout Europe, not in Australia. just to clarify.
