A lot of that is age specific and what was fitted to the car at time of manufacture. (Wipers for instance aren't needed if there's no 'screen etc)

you need wipers and washers unless the screen opens or removes.

you don't need indicators

I'm 90% sure you need a handbrake and horn.

If your MOT man doesn't know you need to take it somewhere else - it's his f'ing job to know!

Try and find somewhere recommended by other classic users.

Try ukmot.co.uk or something similar to that, can't rememebr the exact URL.

For 1942, you do need indicators, but not hazard flashers:

You do need a handbrake, working on at least 2 wheels:
http://www.ukmot.com/3-1.asp#Text_top

You need a horn, although an old fashioned "Awooga" noise rather than a beep is allowed. The horn doesn't have to be electrically operated, so I think a "squeeze bulb" type would be OK as long as it is loud enough.
